Technology Integration in the Classroom
As a music teacher, I find the use of a projector (or preferably SmartBoard) and speakers to be nigh on essential to the growth and development of musical students. I have used various video clips to show students virtuosic performances in many and varied instruments and genres that would not have otherwise been possible. I have also used the speaker system for playing music for the purpose of listening exercises, movement activities, interpretation activities and in performance. The use of a Microphone and small speaker system also promotes and encourages solo and small group performance in the classroom. The use of the microphones and speakers are also extremely helpful in live performance. An electric piano is also utilized regularly to help students with melodies, to accompany them as needed and to show various aspects of music theory.
