A Little About me
Hello!
My name is Joseph Weseloh, and I am currently finishing my degree at Northern State University. I will be graduating in May of 2015 with a Major in Music Education (Vocal and Instrumental, with a Vocal Emphasis) and a Minor in Theatre. I am currently student teaching in the Watertown school district, under the excellent tutelage of Mrs. Jacklynn Stacey at Watertown High School and Mrs. Brenda Ingalls at Lincoln Elementary School. Of the many things that I am learning through this experience, I would have to say that the most gratifying is knowing that I did, in fact, choose a career that I love. |
I count myself as extremely fortunate to have had a plethora of phenomenal musical experiences throughout my life. I am very happy to say that two of my largest musical influences in my life are my parents, Matthew and Amy Weseloh. They are both fantastic musicians as well as strong supporters of the arts, and I cannot imagine my life leading where it has without their support. I have also had the major pleasure of performing with/under/after being coached by various conductors and musicians, some of the highlights including Rachel Barton Pine, Johanna Meier, and the Classic Rock band Kansas! I have been able to perform across the country and the world, including performing in the Inaugural Parade of 2013 in Washington D.C. as a member of the NSU Marching Wolves, visiting seven different countries in Europe through the Midwest Ambassadors of Music, performing at the 2014 Midwest Regional ACDA conference with the NSU Vocal Jazz Ensemble, and performing at the "Christmas on the Prairie" concert for the past five years in Hoven, South Dakota.
At Northern State University, I have had the privilege of performing in many of the ensembles on campus, and have also joined my colleagues on stage in a number of productions, including featured roles in Northern State Theatre productions of "The Phantom of the Opera", "Batboy, The Musical", and "Les Miserables". The number of performance opportunities I have had at Northern astound me, and I consider myself extremely blessed to have been able to be a part of so much making of music with my professors and colleagues alike! I am also extremely fond of all forms of world music, from Celtic, to Tuvan Throat Singing, to Calypso, and I enjoy learning about, and collecting, various world instruments. Some of the instruments I have acquired include the Bodhran, Djembe, Hulusi and Didgeridoo.
Finally, here is a little about me personally. Aside from my passion for music and theatre, I find myself to be an individual who loves learning about anything at all! The subjects that interest me range from blacksmithing to ornithology and leather-working to cooking and baking! On an athletic note, I quite enjoy football, and would love to find myself being a line coach someday. I am also a very large fan of history and geography, as seen in my love for ethnic music and musical instruments. I love to read, having been known to entertain myself with two or three novels at the same time, and thoroughly enjoy traveling and the outdoors. I love to hike, often with an instrument in tow, and would love to someday retire to New Zealand.
Thank you for taking the time to read up about me! Feel free to browse my documents and professional credentials as they are found on this site! You may also contact me for further information using the following contact info:
